Concerning the Flag

Now, when it comes to our time honored, heartily tested, American tradition of pledging our allegiance, there are a few disputes. I believe one of the most notable ones in modern history was due to a professional football quarterback named Colin Kaepernick. You see his idea was to kneel during opening ceremonies and then one day the lights came on. He would honor his allegiance to the flag by offering a knee and bring the truth to light. What was happening in the hispanic, latino, and black communities concerning criminal justice systems was affecting all of us. What he was insisting upon was a time honored tradition of taking a knee for your fallen brothers in battle. It wasn't a protest, it was his right. Now you see, some people really got that twisted and don't you know that one really gets my panties in a bunch. I believe what our forefathers, founding fathers, and fathers of the revolution believed. When you take part in the Pledge of Allegiance you have the right to sit, stand, take a knee, take a shower, finish a half eaten sandwich, or just finish your morning beer. Who am I to decide? It's your allegiance. If you want to pledge it to the same flag as me I whole heartedly uphold your right to sing, speak, whisper, scream, grunt, or whistle that tune as heartily as you can. Well, some of those things may get you kicked out of certain establishments, and I do believe you should follow the rules. But, where the rules don't apply, go ahead and bend that knee. Your brothers or sisters are fallen. And everyone has a right to know. Now say AMEN!
