What Motivates Me?

This is actually an answer to a question I overheard. I wasn't eavesdropping, I just have sensitive hearing I guess. Or maybe I was just meant to hear it. I guess that leads me right into my point.

Motivation comes in a lot of forms. Being motivated by the wrong things are like poison. Sure, it may look appealing or even smell and taste sweet. But it's poison. Poison for your heart and soul. A toxic mix of chemicals your brain produces for doing the wrong things. And when that benefits you in the moment it feels intoxicating.

Now you can also get a pretty good rush from other things. And that's the secret. You see. Good things reward you just the same in the moment AND they have the insanely high probability of paying dividends in the future. Once again this is a matter of faith. But only for those that aren't already in the know. For everyone else this is a basic feature of the simulation. Just kidding! It's just a fact of reality to be honest.

Good things pay out. Nice guys NEVER finish last. People that say that have turned around and started running the wrong way because life got too real or too scary. They didn't like what they saw and headed back for the starting line. Life isn't about compulsion. If it were, we'd all be overweight and lazy. Kind of like the movie WALL-E. Wait, that's not where we're headed is it? Nah, I don't see that happening anytime soon. Life is too amazing.

Life is my motivator. What can I do and what can I achieve while I'm here. Except it's not just my human brain I'm trying to appease. It's a little bit of what's in my heart and a lot of what our Creator wants. If only everyone knew what that looks like and what I've seen, they'd understand too. Look, I'm leaving behind a legacy one day and that's all it takes. It's just the path I've chosen. I'm going to live for a long time, even after I'm gone.

I enjoy living hard and making the world better a little at a time. That's all it takes. You don't have to be a superhero, or even Jesus Christ to make a massive impact. You just have to believe in it all. Being a believer, and living in faith is tiring and exhausting. But it rewards you very well. Sometimes I look around at my peers and it just seems so obvious that I'm winning the race. Other times it seems like I'm losing. Then I remember, this is isn't even about time and there is no course. It's not a race at all is it? It's a leisurely stroll and how and when you hit the finish line is up to you. Don't beat the clock. Run down the time and experience emotion. Maybe see what it's like to run full speed down hill or try crossing the finish line just at the last second. It's truly up to you.

Just make sure you're facing the right way. If you can't decide, feel free to follow me. Passing on the right only please.
